Superfluid equation of state of dilute composite bosons.

چکیده
We present an exact theory of the BEC-BCS crossover in the Bose-Einstein-condensate (BEC) regime, which treats explicitly dimers as made of two fermions. We apply our framework, at zero temperature, to the calculation of the equation of state. We find that, when expanding the chemical potential in powers of the density n up to the Lee-Huang-Yang order, proportional to n(3/2), the result is identical to the one of elementary bosons in terms of the dimer-dimer scattering length a(M), the composite nature of the dimers appearing only in the next order term proportional to n(2).

Resonance superfluidity in a quantum degenerate Fermi gas.
We consider the superfluid phase transition that arises when a Feshbach resonance pairing occurs in a dilute Fermi gas. We apply our theory to consider a specific resonance in potassium ((40)K), and find that for achievable experimental conditions, the transition to a superfluid phase is possible at the high critical temperature of about 0.5T(F). Observation of superfluidity in this regime woul...
متن کاملAsymmetric Fermi superfluid in a harmonic trap
We consider a dilute two-component atomic fermion gas with unequal populations in a harmonic trap potential using the mean field theory and the local density approximation. We show that the system is phase separated into concentric shells with the superfluid in the core surrounded by the normal fermion gas in both the weak-coupling BCS side and near the Feshbach resonance. In the strong-couplin...
متن کاملComposite boson mapping for lattice boson systems.
We present a canonical mapping transforming physical boson operators into quadratic products of cluster composite bosons that preserves matrix elements of operators when a physical constraint is enforced. We map the 2D lattice Bose-Hubbard Hamiltonian into 2×2 composite bosons and solve it within a generalized Hartree-Bogoliubov approximation. The resulting Mott insulator-superfluid phase diagr...
متن کاملPair superfluidity of three-body constrained bosons in two dimensions.
We examine the equilibrium properties of lattice bosons with attractive on-site interactions in the presence of a three-body hard-core constraint that stabilizes the system against collapse and gives rise to a dimer superfluid phase. Employing quantum Monte Carlo simulations, the ground state phase diagram of this system on the square lattice is analyzed. In particular, we study the quantum pha...
متن کاملSuperfluid transition temperature in a trapped gas of Fermi atoms with a Feshbach resonance
We investigate strong coupling effects on the superfluid phase transition in a gas of Fermi atoms with a Feshbach resonance. The Feshbach resonance describes a composite quasi-Boson, which can give rise to an additional pair-ing interaction between the Fermi atoms. This attractive interaction becomes stronger as the threshold energy (2ν) of the Feshbach resonance two-particle bound state is low...
